What is the Cambridge Primary Curriculum?

The Cambridge Primary Curriculum is a framework for children’s primary education, based on the education system in the UK. It is aimed at children aged 5-11. Cambridge Primary is an international curriculum, used in over 160 countries around the world. Devised by subject experts and rooted in academic research, this curriculum is part of the University of Cambridge.

The programme focuses on engaging children in global topics, getting them to think critically and develop a passion for learning. The primary curriculum is designed to provide learners with a solid foundation, which they can build upon as they progress through further education.

Nearly a million students around the world learn through the Cambridge International Programme every year and at KBH we are proud to be a fully Cambridge accredited International School.

How will children be assessed in the Cambridge Primary Curriculum at KBH?

Children will complete formal Cambridge checkpoint assessments at KBH the end of Year 6 to test their proficiency in the core subjects, English, Maths and Science. These Cambridge Year 6 checkpoint assessments are set and marked by Cambridge.

What comes next after the Cambridge Primary Curriculum at KBH?

The Cambridge Primary Curriculum is designed to provide children with a solid foundation for future study. After they’ve completed Year 6 of the primary programme at age 11 at KBH, learners will move onto the lower secondary portion of the Cambridge International curriculum which is also offered at KBH.

The Cambridge Secondary Curriculum is designed for learners aged 11-16, and it’s split into lower secondary (ages 11-14) and upper secondary (ages 14-16). Students on this course will typically take the Cambridge IGCSE qualifications, before progressing onto the Cambridge Advanced programme, where they can study for A-Level qualifications.
