KBH OCTOBER STEM CAMP!
On day 1 of the STEM camp we studied insects (and saw a butterfly just after it emerged from it's cocoon), made parachutes, learnt to strategise playing "The strategy game" and learnt about how flowers drink. On day 2 of the STEM camp we focused on design - designing a marble maze and designing digital art. The kids were thoroughly engaged in thinking about their creations! On day 3 of the STEM camp students undertook experiments like making volcanoes and rainbow, creating invisible ink art and hand casting. On day 4 of the STEM camp students learnt about triangles in engineering. Triangles are the most stable shape. Given a triangle with 3 fixed sides, the angles of the triangles will be fixed, making the structure rigid. Using this principle, students build a trigonal pyramid and modified this to make a catapult. We had a wonderful final day at the STEM camp, as we spent our time together creating a sundial by hand. After that we observed inverted images through a cylindrical lens. We had a wonderful time and what a great Autumn STEM camp we had! Through these enjoyable activities, students gained a hands-on understanding of scientific and engineering principles, whilst igniting their creativity and imagination!
We extend a very big thank you to our Teachers for giving up their time during the school holidays to conduct the camps. Shout out to Mr Lucas, Ms Teoh, Ms Guo and Mr Robert for their hard work, kindness and support.
