Youth Chinese Test 17 May 2024

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

We are pleased to announce that our school is running the YCT (Youth Chinese Test). The YCT is mandatory for students in Grade 2- 6 in the KBH bilingual programme. All other KBH students from Grade 2-8 may sit for examination if they choose to do so. 

The YCT is designed to encourage non-native Chinese-speaking young students to learn Chinese, and develop and improve their proficiency with Chinese. It assesses their ability to use Chinese in daily life as well as in academic study.

The results of the test can serve various purposes:

A method for Chinese language learners to assess and improve their proficiency in Chinese.

B reference for Chinese language training in schools.

C method for Chinese language training institutions to evaluate training results.

D benchmark for students who want to participate in the HSK test.

There are four levels of writing tests: YCT Level 1, YCT Level 2, YCT Level 3 and YCT Level 4.
