The purpose of this field trip to the Central Public Library is to immerse students in Singapore’s culture, heritage, and biodiversity through interactive exhibits and dedicated learning spaces.
Through interactive displays and murals the students will engage in-
Tour 1:
Social Studies: Through the Singapore Alcove and Singapore-themed Murals, students engage with stories and visual art that portray Singapore’s history, identity, and culture. These displays offer insights into the local way of life, helping students develop a sense of national pride and an understanding of Singapore’s heritage and diverse communities.
Tour 2:
Science: The Children’s Biodiversity Library introduces students to themes in environmental science, specifically marine biodiversity and conservation. This component directly supports learning about ecosystems and conservation, enhancing their knowledge of local flora and fauna and the importance of sustainability.
Activity:
Language and Reflection Skills: Students are encouraged to reflect on their experiences and articulate their learning through writing, as they complete worksheets and personal reflections at the end of the visit. This helps them consolidate knowledge, practice critical thinking, and enhance written expression, supporting English language learning outcomes.
